Construction Process for Reinforcing Circular Column Formwork

Table of Content [Hide]

The quality of template installation directly affects the quality of construction projects, and the installation of circular column formworks is more complex compared to wall, column, beam, and slab templates. So, how do we reinforce circular column formworks? This article will explain in detail the standard operating procedures for reinforcing circular column formworks.

Templates Above 3 Meters Need to Be Installed Staggered

When installing circular column formworks, if the column height exceeds three meters, the two templates at the upper and lower connection points need to be installed in a staggered manner. Staggered installation can ensure the verticality and integrity of the cylinder.

Fixed Steel Bands Require Horizontal Bundling

Horizontal bundling can ensure that the steel bands are evenly stressed. The upper and lower edges of the steel bands for circular column formworks with a column diameter of more than 1 meter but less than 1.5 meters are provided at intervals of 25 cm steel hoops for free along with the templates. For circular column formworks with a column diameter of less than 1 meter, steel hoops are provided at intervals of 30 cm.

    • Installation Tip: When installing steel bands, it is best to use a steel ruler to measure the template, and nail 3-4 small nails around the perimeter at the same height on the template. Place the steel band on the nails to keep it level. When installing screws, ensure that each screw is tightened to the same degree to maintain consistent tension and ensure construction safety.

    • Installation Hint: It is best for the same person to reinforce the screws for the same column. After the template is closed and reinforced, the bottom circular plane of the template should ideally be 0.5-1 cm from the ground and filled with concrete.

Reinforcement of Upper and Lower Interface Positions of the Template

As the circular column formwork is installed in a staggered manner, the horizontal interfaces at the upper and lower templates must be reinforced with steel bands. The steel bands should horizontally cover the interface position, ensuring that the interface is in the middle of the reinforcing steel band, thus enhancing the stability and effectiveness of the circular column formwork.

    Protect the Template

After installing the steel bands, to protect the circular column formwork, vertically add four wooden planks of 5*10 cm around the cylinder and fix the wooden planks with four steel pipes. It is best to keep the distance between each layer of steel pipes at 100 cm. This not only protects the wooden template but also buffers the pressure of the vibrator, resulting in better concrete effects. This protection also helps in the vertical positioning of the templates, forming an integrated force and achieving a secondary reinforcement effect.

    Pour Concrete into the Template

For circular column formworks with a pouring height within seven meters, concrete can be poured at one time. For heights above seven meters, it is recommended to pour in two stages, with the second pouring taking place 30-60 minutes after the first.

    Template Removal Process

During template removal, sequentially remove the steel pipes, wooden planks, and steel bands reinforced on the circular column formwork. At this point, the template will naturally detach. If some parts do not detach naturally, simply tap the interfacing grooves with a wooden stick to cause vibrations, and the template will detach naturally (using tools to pry open the template is strictly prohibited).
